New Principals for 2021-22 at Tavola ES, Woodridge Forest MS, Bens Branch ES

In March, the Board of Trustees approved the hiring of three new principals for the 2021-22 school year, including Lisa Bruce at Tavola Elementary, Dan Carr at Woodridge Forest Middle School, and Kristie Kelley at Bens Branch Elementary School. Bruce and Carr are both current assistant principals in New Caney ISD schools while Kelley comes to NCISD from Dayton ISD with 23 years experience in education as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal.

The Board of Trustees also approved the hiring of Kristi Amarantos as Executive Director of Human Resources, April 19. Amarantos replaces Steve Freeman who is retiring after 41 years in public education and 17 years in New Caney ISD. Amarantos has been the Director of Human Resources in New Caney ISD since 2020, coming to the district from Sheldon ISD where she served in administrative roles for 16 years including as Executive Director of Human Resources. She began her education career in Galena Park ISD as a teacher. In February, the Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Brooke Lyles to be the director of career and technical education, replacing Warren Stripling who is retiring after 27 years in education and 23 years in New Caney ISD. Lyles has 17 years experience in public education as an agricultural science teacher, FFA advisor, and, since 2018, the CTE coordinator here in New Caney ISD.
