Board of Trustees Approves 2019-20 Compensation Plan

The New Caney ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a historic compensation plan for the 2019-20 school year at its regular meeting June 17. The compensation plan exceeds requirements for pay increases set forth by the 86th state legislature in House Bill 3. The plan includes pay raises for employees as follows:

5.5% increase for teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses with six or more years of experience in a compensation package totaling $4,930. The components of this package include:

  • $3,163 general pay increase
  • $45 district contribution to benefits
  • $922 state contribution to TRS
  • $800 one-time stipend paid by district

5% increase for teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses with 0-5 years of experience in a compensation package totaling $4,639. The components of this package include:

  • $2,875 general pay increase
  • $42 district contribution to benefits
  • $922 state contribution to TRS
  • $800 one-time stipend paid by district

4% general pay increase for all other employees

  • $800 one-time stipend paid by district

General pay increases are calculated on the control point of the employee’s pay grade. As part of the compensation package, all employees will receive a one-time $800 stipend (less taxes) paid out in two installments during the school year; $400 in December of 2019 and $400 in May of 2020. The plan also increases the starting teacher salary to $57,000.
