Upcoming Event: Hour of Code

Hour of Code Nov. 18, 2016 | Thinking Innovatively | New Caney ISD will host our third annual Hour of Code™ 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, at the Community Room at Texan Drive Stadium.

Today’s students live in a world surrounded by technology. At New Caney ISD, we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. That’s why our district is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code. To find out more about the Hour of Code™ global movement, visit

This year’s Hour of Code™ will include a presentation by keynote speaker Jamey Johnston, Data Scientist for a large independent Oil and Gas company. After the presentation, students will work through age appropriate coding activities.

This event is open to all students Kindergarten through 12th grade. All students must have transportation to and from the event. Students Kindergarten through 8th grade must be accompanied by a parent. High school students driving themselves to the event do not need a parent chaperone. Students 6th grade through 12th grade, please bring your Chromebooks.

Our Hour of Code is making a statement that New Caney ISD is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code™ event huge. We encourage all of our students to attend Hour of Code™.
