My name is Douglas Stewart Torres-Edwards, and this is my 18th year as an educator. This is my third year at Infinity Early College High School, where I teach AP World History and College Prep Mathematics. I am also our campus Advanced Placement and Competitive Academics Coordinator.
Prior to Infinity, I directed AP Social Studies and World Languages programs throughout Houston ISD. During my work at HISD, I developed a Mexican American Studies course, which is now the basis for Texas' statewide high school course. I also led a multi-million dollar arts education expansion effort at HISD, partnering with over 40 regional professional arts organizations.
In 2002, I earned my Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, from Sam Houston State University. I then completed my Master of Arts in Teaching at Rice University in 2004. I completed doctoral coursework in Social Education with an emphasis on Latin American History in 2013 at The University of Houston.
