On February 1, 2025, the New Caney Independent School District Police Department received the award of "Accredited Law Enforcement Agency" from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. Begun in 2006, the Accreditation Program evaluates a police department's compliance with over 168 standards for Texas law enforcement. These standards cover all aspects of law enforcement operations, and were developed to assist agencies deliver efficient and effective service while protecting individual rights. 

The NCISD Police Department was honored at the April board meeting for the "Accredited Law Enforcement Agency" award.

To earn this accreditation, NCISD police officers were required to conduct a critical self-review of the agency's policies, procedures, facilities, and operations. The police department began the process of earning the accreditation two years ago, under the supervision of then-Captain Kevin Potter. On February 1, 2025, the police department was awarded with the accreditation, making it the 216th agency out of the almost 3,000 police agencies in Texas.
