The Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Gipsy Leal to be the next principal of Tavola Elementary. Leal will take over the role for the 2025-2026 school year after serving as an assistant principal at Sorters Mill Elementary. 

“Becoming the principal of Tavola Elementary is an exciting and meaningful opportunity,” Ms. Leal said. 

Ms. Leal has 16 years of experience, working first in Houston ISD before transferring to New Caney ISD to serve an RTI specialist and, for the last five years, an assistant principal. Ms. Leal earned her bachelor’s degree in bilingual education from the University of Houston-Downtown. She earned her Masters in Education in Educational Diagnostician from the University of St. Thomas and her principal certification from Lamar University. 

In her new role, Ms. Leal is eager to inspire collaboration and innovation at Tavola Elementary.
