New WFHS Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator Brian Cope poses with Athletic Director David Plunk at February board meeting
West Fork High School is proud to announce the hiring of Brian Cope as the new Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator. Coach Cope brings a proven record of leadership, program-building, and competitive excellence to the West Fork High School.
Coach Cope most recently served as Campus Coordinator and Head Football Coach at Lake Belton High School, where he was named the school’s first head football coach in January 2020. In six seasons leading the Broncos, he compiled an impressive 46–17 overall record. Under his leadership, Lake Belton qualified for the playoffs in each of its first four years of varsity eligibility and advanced to the bi-district round every season. The Broncos became one of only two new schools in the state since 2010 to reach the playoffs in their first four years of eligibility at the 5A Division I or 6A level.
Prior to opening Lake Belton High School, Coach Cope served as Assistant Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator at Belton High School. Before his time in Belton, he was the Offensive Coordinator at A&M Consolidated High School, where the Tigers reached the playoffs in all six of his seasons, advanced to the third round three times, made a quarterfinal run in 2013, and captured two district championships.
A graduate of Cypress Falls High School, Coach Cope was a multi-sport athlete in football and baseball before continuing his playing career at Trinity University. He was a four-year letterman for the Tigers and helped lead the program to two National Semifinal appearances and two National Quarterfinal runs, losing only one home game during his collegiate career. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting from Trinity University, and he holds certifications in Marketing Education (8–12) and Business Education (6–12).
