SMART tag No Badge, No Ride

The district utilizes the SMART tag ID system to facilitate safer, more efficient school bus transportation, and allow parents to easily track their child's bus ride to and from school. All students will be issued a new SMART tag ID badge for the 2026-2027 school year at no cost. Returning students will need to use their old SMART tag badges until the new ones are issued.

What You Need to Know:

  • SMART tag ID Badges Required: Students without their SMART tag ID badges may board the bus in the morning, but will not be allowed to board the bus for afternoon drop-off.

  • Lost Badge: Students without a badge will be allowed to board the bus in the morning, but must purchase a replacement badge at school. Badges are $2 for one replacement card or $5 for three cards. Payment must be received before the card is issued.

  • Track Your Child's Ride: Download the SMART tag app to monitor your child's bus ride in real time.

Visit our Transportation page for more information about the SMART tag No Badge, No Ride policy and Parent App.

ParentSquare—New Caney ISD's Mass Notification System

To keep families informed promptly and accurately, New Caney ISD uses ParentSquare for all emergency and mass communications. School closures, campus updates, and direct messaging will be shared through ParentSquare via text, call, email, and app notifications.

Download the free app from the Apple Store or Android Play Store.

Personal Communication Devices Prohibited

Personal communications devices must remain off or on silent and stored in backpacks throughout the instructional day. A personal wireless communication device includes items such as cell phones, text messaging devices, laptops, and tablets — any device capable of transmitting or receiving data that the school does not provide for instructional purposes. Cell phones and other personal communication devices may not be stored on a student’s person.

New Caney ISD’s policy regarding personal communication devices can be found in the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.

NCISD Volunteers

The NCISD Volunteer application opens Wednesday, July 15, 2026. All new and returning volunteers are required to submit a volunteer application and pass the criminal history/background check each year.

New this school year, once you have completed the application process, there is no longer a need to make an appointment at the central office. You will be notified by email of approval upon completion of a criminal history review. Campuses will automatically have the names of approved volunteers in the Raptor Volunteer Management System. Approved volunteers will follow campus sign-in procedures at the time of their volunteer service. The updated credentialing process is outlined in the Volunteer Handbook, along with information related to the application process, guidelines, and expectations. Thank you for your interest in volunteering and supporting our schools!
