Mr. Justin Fulfer

Justin Fulfer is a doctoral candidate at Texas Tech University and is currently A.B.D on his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Fine Arts, with an emphasis on String Pedagogy. Additionally, he has earned his Master’s degree of Music education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma. While at TTU and UCO, Mr. Fulfer has taught collegiate level studio bass courses, music theory, and directed small and large ensembles, including the TTU Jazz Ensemble I. In addition, Mr. Fulfer has published articles and presented scholarly research in the field of Musicology, Music Education, and Interdisciplinary Arts.

 Aside from his academic accomplishments, Mr. Fulfer is a well-rounded upright, electric bassist, and cellist that has performed at internally recognized jazz festivals in Europe and he leads his own jazz ensemble. Prior to moving to the Houston area, Mr. Fulfer was a member of several professional music organizations, including the Roswell Symphony Orchestra, Big Spring Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, and Grace Symphony. As a second year teacher at New Caney ISD, Mr. Fulfer is driven to develop innovative pedagogical practices that are not only  aimed to meet the needs of a new generation of musicians in the 21st Century, but also carry on the traditions and principals of classical training.
