Mrs. Fernandez

I teach Spanish Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science to Kindergarten English speakers and Spanish native students in order to prepare them for 1st grade.  This is my 9th year of teaching.  I have taught PreK, Kinder, and after-school classes for 3rd-grade STAAR and 1st-grade GEMS.  I think learning different languages is important.  It shows that you value others, and appreciate other cultures.  It makes people smile when you’re able to communicate with them in their native language.  I am fully fluent in English and Spanish.  I studied French for 3 years, and I’m currently studying Brazilian Portuguese.  I studied at the University of Miami and finished my Bachelors at the University of Phoenix. I recently graduated with my Masters in Reading Instruction from Grand Canyon University, and I completed a year certification in Number Sense through Math Solutions. I was born in Puerto Rico.  During my teenage years, I moved to Florida, which is a “melting pot” of different cultures.  Just like each US state has different customs and accents, Hispanics also have different cultures and dialects, but we are all united by the same Latin heart (Viva España!).
