Dogwood Chess Club

  • Chess club encourages and fosters intellectual growth while having fun for students of any age through the game of chess. 

    What is chess?

    Chess is a game played between two opponents on opposite sides of a board. The goal of the game is to use 16 pieces: 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns to checkmate the king. 

    How to paricipate?

    Students meet in the Library on Monday and Wednesday morning before school to participate in games between students, or electronical versions using Chromebooks and a touch screen TV. 

    Students who would like to join the chess club can see Mr. Soto or Coach Castleberry to get a pass.
