Welcome to the VRE Library and Media Center!

  • The Valley Ranch Media Center curriculum has three strands: Literacy, Design Thinking, and Technology. Teachers bring their classes to the Media Center during a weekly scheduled class time.

The Literacy component includes reading aloud, discussing stories and making literacy connections, learning about authors and illustrators, learning about different genres of books, and finding books appropriate for students' interests and reading levels.

The Design Thinking component is implemented through the makerspace initiative.  Students are encouraged to think creatively through game play, engineering, technology and other hands on activities.

The Technology component seeks to help students through projects designed collaboratively by their classroom teacher and library media specialist. Tavola has enough chromebooks for every student in the Media Center.

Library Procedures

  • Book Checkout

Returning books on time is important so that all students have access to library materials.

Grades 2-5: may check out two books. Chapter books may be renewed for additional weeks.

K-1:  may check out one book.

Students may not check out new books until all other books have been returned.

Students must pay for damaged or lost books checked out in their name.
