Mrs. Jessica Cass
My name is Jessica Cass, and I am thrilled to serve Sorters Mill Elementary as the school counselor this year! I have been in elementary education for the past fourteen years. I attended Sam Houston State University, where I received my Bachelor's Degree, and I earned my Graduate Degree from Lamar State University.
My husband and I have two amazing children. Our daughter is a senior in highschool this year and our son is in preschool. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, crafting, and shopping. I love a good cup of coffee and Mexican food! My favorite place to get away to is the beach!
The Sorters Mill Elementary School Counseling Program's goal is to provide a comprehensive and developmental program for all students. The school counselor is a professional advocate who works with the staff, parents, and community to address the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. The program seeks to support each student in maximizing his/her potential in order to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
The school counselor visits students during classroom guidance lessons, pull students into small groups with parent permission, and has individual sessions with students as needed. Students can arrange a meeting with me by asking their teacher, sending me an email with their parent's information attached to the email, or by filling out a paper request that is located outside of my office. Teachers can use a Google Form for referrals, and parents may refer a student to the school counselor by filling out a Google Form.
If you need any type of assistance, such as school supplies, food, or clothing, please fill out a Google Form and I will reach out to you.
