Welcome! My name is Ms. Colunga and I am the assistant dance director at Porter High School. I teach dance at PHS, White Oak MS and Woodridge MS. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful staff here in New Caney ISD.

A little about me! I was born and raised in San Antonio. I attended Robert E. Lee high school where I danced all four years traveling to Los Angeles, California and New York city to compete. I held the position as head captain my junior and senior year.

Following high school, I studied at The University of Texas at San Antonio where I graduated Cum Laude with my BS in kinesiology. During my time in college, I was a member of the UTSA Pom Squad from 2014-2016 where I held the position as Captain. Following my freshman and sophomore year, I became a member of the AHL San Antonino Rampage Ice Girls. As soon as my season with the Ice Girls ended, I became a member of the WNBA Stars dance team.

Once I graduated in 2018, I decided to move to Houston and start my career. I’ve always had a passion for helping others and working with children. I believe every child is capable of success, no matter their circumstances. All it takes is one person to believe in them and the rest will follow.

“A student is almost always motivated to practice if he leaves his lessons feeling capable.”
