Mrs. Sue Bigney

I am very excited to be returning as an 8th Grade Science teacher to Woodridge Forest Middle School this year.  Although last year was my first experience teaching in Texas, I am not new to the teaching profession.  I come with more than ten years experience teaching Seventh and Eighth Grade Science.  My experiences from last year have convinced me that I am extremely fortunate to work in one of the best schools and districts in the state.  I love Science and enjoy the personality and creativity of the middle school environment, and I am looking forward to getting to know each student and sharing our learning experience together.

MY Background

I was born in a small town outside of Sun Valley, Idaho and spent my formative years exploring the mountains, streams and lakes of the beautiful Rocky Mountains.  It was there that I gained a great appreciation of and respect for the beauties of nature, which led to my interest in the Sciences.  As I have traveled throughout the United States, and to foreign countries, I have discovered that there is beauty everywhere.  I have enjoyed hiking in the Rockies, the Grand Canyon, the diverse and colorful Utah canyons, and am discovering Texas.

I graduated from a Junior College in Idaho with an associates of arts degree.  I continued my education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Biology and Middle School Science.  I also have degrees in Spanish and ELL. I  continued my education at the University of Utah and Utah Valley University where I pursued courses in Education and Accounting.

My favorite hobby is spending time with my family. I have several grandchildren, which are the delight of my life.  My husband and I visit our children and grandchildren as much as possible, and in the summers we spend our time sailing up and down the East coast on our sailboat.  We just finished a route from Maine to Virginia where we were able to observe varying weather conditions, currents, winds, seals, dolphins, whales and many other living creatures.  The world is truly a large, outdoor Science laboratory.
