Eric Holton

Hello, my name is Eric Holton, and I am humbled to serve our community as the principal of New Caney High School! I am originally from Beaumont, TX, where I attended high school at West Brook HS and received my undergraduate degree from Lamar University. After teaching and coaching for several years, I earned my master's degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX. I am now entering my thirteenth year in education and my ninth year as an administrator in public education.
My family and I have called New Caney home for several years now and we are excited to be a part of the amazing growth in our community. I am blessed to have been married for over eighteen years to my wife, Doree, who also works in NCISD as a special education teacher. Together, we have three incredible children, Carter, Colt, and Claire who all attend NCISD schools!
For the last several years I was the principal of New Caney Middle School, and I could not think of a more wonderful place to work, raise a family, and educate my children than right here in New Caney ISD. Serving the students and staff of our community is something that I truly enjoy and have a passion for. I count myself very fortunate to now be a part of the storied tradition of New Caney High School and I look forward to continuing the work that has been laid before me by past NCHS administrators!

Amber Beard

Ms. Beard is a passionate educator with nearly 20 years of educational experience. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in English from Lamar University, with a double minor in history and political science.  In addition, she is certified in ELAR 7-12 and holds a Principal’s Certification. Ms. Beard taught English for 16 years before heading to Channelview ISD to work as the district ELAR and then as an Assistant Principal in 2018. Ms. Beard’s hobbies are reading, traveling (her favorite city so far is Budapest, Hungary), and making memories with her family. She is also the proud mom of two wonderful daughters and two precocious, but adorable, dachshunds, both of whom were rescues.  In her opinion, the greatest American novel ever written is To Kill a Mockingbird (her youngest daughter is named after author Harper Lee), and this quote, spoken by Atticus Finch, is a favorite: “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view ... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." Ms. Beard believes that empathy is one of the most important things we can learn and teach others.
