Tavola Elementary: School Counseling Program



    The school counseling program at Tavola Elementary is designed to address the academic, social, emotional, and personal needs of all elementary students. The school counselor will provide classroom guidance lessons, group work, individual counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, and referral assistance.


    Classroom Guidance Lesson topics will include, but are not limited to, goal setting, respect, emotions, self-esteem, acceptance, friendship, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, cooperation, coping skills, career development, personal safety, test-prep, test-taking anxiety, transitions, and character strengths. 


    Group Work with students will include, but are not limited to, lunch buddies, friendship, and social skills groups. 


    Crisis Intervention will be in place to prevent crisis and plan for safety.


    Consultation will be provided for staff and parents/guardians to plan for student needs and provide resources and education.


    Referral assistance will be provided for services such as mental health counseling, case management, or crisis support.
