Degrees and Certifications:
I am proud to be a Medical Science teacher and the Advisor for SkillsUSA Medical competitions. This will be my seventh year as a Spartan! For the 2017-2018 academic year, I will be teaching the following classes: Medical Terminology, Medical Science, and Clinical Practicum. The Medical Science classes are designed specifically for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. My objective is to introduce students to the vast world of health care and offer guidance in preparation for rigorous degrees offered at the college level. I also hope to model professionalism and courteous social interactions in the workplace. Prior to teaching, I worked in Radiology as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. I maintain national credentialing in sonography which allows me to remain current on standards of practice and provide realistic expectations of the field. Prior to my career in sonography, I participated in care at our former family business which provided experience working with individuals in the Adult Day Care setting.
I hope the students will develop empathic caring for the sick and those in need. They are our future health care providers!
Parents, I encourage an open line of communication. If for any reason you need to contact me, or if you would like to say hello and introduce yourself, please don't hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
While the Medical Science classes are electives, all material is science based and taught as such. Any student interested should be prepared to take detailed notes, participate in all classroom activities, complete homework, and study independently. The material is new and complex and cannot be mastered without personal effort. Academic diligence and an eager attitude are required for success.
