Multilingual Instruction

The Dual Language Program offers and enriches education that goes beyond traditional schooling. It provides a differentiated, challenging, and engaging experience that supports the goals of dual language education. These goals include bilingualism and biliteracy development in Spanish and English, high academic achievement in all content areas in both languages, increased multiculturalism, and high levels of sociocultural competence.

Dual Language builds on a student's first language and develops deep academic language proficiency, content knowledge and skills, and enhanced cognitive development.

Supporting English Learners in Texas

The purpose of the Migrant Education Program is to design and support programs that help migratory students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle. These efforts are aimed at helping migratory students succeed in school and successfully transition to postsecondary education and/or employment.

Title III of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), provides federal funding to support emergent bilingual students.

Languages Other Than English refers to studying foreign languages in education. LOTE programs are designed to teach students languages other than English.

English for Speakers of Other Languages is a high school class specializing in instructional programs designed to teach English language skills to individuals with a primary language other than English. ESOL classes primarily focus on newcomers' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
