Library Services empowers campus library staff to build and sustain dynamic, effective library programs that ignite a passion for literacy and lifelong learning in every student.

Library Materials Acquisition

Library materials recommended for purchase will be posted for 30 days prior to purchase on the Library Services webpage to give staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to purchase. Comments must be submitted by completing the District’s form, which can be found at the link below. All comments received within the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered prior to finalizing the purchase. The posting will be updated as purchase orders are submitted.

Student Access to Library Materials

New Caney ISD recognizes that parents and guardians are the primary decision-makers regarding their child’s access to library material. District staff may assist a student in selecting library material; however, the ultimate determination of appropriateness remains with the student and parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are encouraged to communicate with the campus librarian and their child’s teacher about special considerations regarding library materials self-selected by their child.

In accordance with state law and administrative procedures, parents or guardians may submit a list of library materials that their child shall not be allowed to check out or access for use outside of the school library.
