Bad Weather & School Closing Information

New Caney ISD schools are occasionally closed due to inclement weather. In the event of a school delay or closure, announcements and updates will first be posted on the New Caney ISD homepage and school homepages using on-screen alerts. The district will also contact parents utilizing its notification system (phone calls, emails, texts) and post updates to social media. It is important that families keep their contact phone number current in Skyward Family Access to receive notifications.

The decision to close schools is always made with the safety of students and staff as the top priority. New Caney ISD actively monitors developing weather events and consults local weather and emergency management officials, as well as other school districts, when considering school delays or closures.

Distribution of Non-School Materials

NCISD Board Policy GKDA allows for the distribution of certain non-school literature in the form of flyers (single page only, front-and-back is acceptable) on school campuses or other district property. Organizations that wish to submit a flyer for distribution must do so in accordance with Board Policy GKDA and the following procedures. If a flyer is approved for distribution, it is the responsibility of the requesting organization to provide the school with copies of the flyers. The time, location, and means by which an approved flyer is distributed at the campus is at the discretion of the campus principal. The term “distribution” as used in this procedure generally means placing items in the area designated at each campus for the dissemination of non-school-related materials. If the materials are approved for distribution, the requesting organization must provide the facility with the materials to be distributed, and they will be placed in the designated distribution area. Please contact the school prior to delivering flyers for guidance on delivery. A copy of this signed form must be delivered with each set of flyers you would like placed in the distribution area.

Student Directory Information Restriction Form

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) governs NCISD’s release of directory information regarding students. “Directory information” means information contained in an education record of a student that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. 34 C.F.R. § 99.3. Certain information about District students is considered directory information and will be released to anyone who follows the procedures for requesting the information unless the parent or guardian objects to the release of the directory information about the student. If you do not want NCISD to disclose directory information from your child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the District in writing within ten school days of your child’s first day of instruction for this school year. NCISD has designated the following information as directory information: student name; address; telephone listing; electronic mail address; photograph; date and place of birth; major field of study; degrees, honors, and awards received; dates of attendance; grade level; most recent educational institution attended; participation in officially recognized activities and sports; and weight and height of members of athletic teams.
