Technology Divisions

This specific branch of the NCISD Technology Department exists to support and maintain the audio and visual systems throughout the district.  The majority of our work takes place in classrooms and small meeting spaces, but also includes large group spaces such as auditoriums, large group instructional areas, and even sports fields. 

The equipment we use and maintain includes: Projectors (1500+), Interactive Displays (300+), Sound Systems (25+), Digital Signage (300+), Video Scoreboards, Theatrical Lighting, and Wireless Presentation Systems (1500+) NCISD Technology also uses the AURA (Intevi) platform to broadcast over 60 channels of Television to 300 plus displays, located throughout the district.

The Campus Technicians are responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all Chromebooks, PC computers, laptops, desktops, technology peripherals, projectors, Clear Touch interactive displays, sound systems, and printers.  The technician team is made of technology specialists that are dedicated to providing the high level of support needed to create and maintain a powerful, digital learning environment.

Our team's goals are to:

• Provide dedicated hardware and software support to all NCISD staff and students
• Provide first level support and training to New Caney ISD students and staff
• Manage the Technology Help Desk Phone Line
• Expedite and ensure technology problem resolution
• Escalate customer issues to management
• Perform preventative maintenance to reduce technology downtime and avoid interruptions of instructional time
• Schedule and complete service requests in an efficient and timely manner, updating the requester on the status of each request
• Collaborate across all departments to provide the best opportunities for student learning, all while supporting teachers and staff members in their roles as educators
• Create work orders when needed

The cybersecurity department is responsible for protecting the district's digital assets. Their responsibilities include network security, data protection, security awareness, incident response, and compliance.  

Inventory/Procurement is responsible for managing the acquisition, deployment, and tracking of all technology assets used within the district. This includes computers, tablets, software licenses, networking equipment, and other technology-related items.

The Network Division is responsible for the entire network infrastructure consisting of more than 800 switches, over 38,000 physical connections, 96 routed fiber links, and 1,700+ wireless access points with typically over 10,000 concurrent connections across the district.

The Systems Team is responsible for maintaining over 100 servers, both virtual and physical, along with the hardware related to them, in addition to managing the over 20,000 user accounts and groups that make up New Caney ISD.

Our roles include managing the server environment for efficient usage, updates/upgrades, and monitoring; keeping daily backups of critical systems; maintaining up-to-date desktop images; deploying new and updated applications; maintaining and updating user and computer policies; We also manage the user accounts for staff and students in AD and Google, ensuring every user is in their proper groups and has access to various systems, such as email, Canvas, Skyward, etc. This also includes investigating issues with accounts if they arise; creating specialized email, security accounts, and groups for the district, and managing Gmail settings, quarantines, spam, and blocklists.

We also work closely with the A/V, Security, 1-to-1, and Network division to ensure a quality IT infrastructure and environment for the district to provide the best possible learning experience for our students.
