Maintenance
The New Caney ISD Maintenance Department's purpose is to provide a safe learning environment for students by overseeing 2,800,000 square feet of buildings and managing the electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, general maintenance, and grounds. The Maintenance Department processes over 15,000 work orders each school year and utilizes a state-of-the-art energy management system to schedule, control, monitor, and troubleshoot HVAC and lighting systems throughout the district.
Grounds Crew
The Grounds Crew maintains 19 campuses and 8 auxiliary facilities, totaling approximately 570 acres. The grounds crew is responsible for mowing, trimming and maintaining flower beds, trimming trees, hedges, bushes, and maintaining parking lots. The grounds crew is also responsible for maintaining all the lawn equipment, tractors, weed eaters, blowers and pressure washers.
Pest Control
The level of pest control and the method of pest management to be considered are as follows:
- Non-Chemical prevention of pest populations using methods such as sanitation, exclusion, and cultural methods.
- Application of pesticides only “as needed” to correct verified problems.
- Selecting the least hazardous methods and materials effective for control of targeted pests.
- Precision targeting of pesticides to areas not contacted or accessible to the children, faculty and staff.
Here are a few tips that will help with Pest Control.
- Please do not leave open food in or at your desks.
- Please make sure that the students do not have open food at their desks.
- Please make sure that all cabinets are free from open food containers.
In the event of a student or staff safety issue, please call the Maintenance Department (281-577-8640) directly. All other pest management concerns should go through the work order system.
Work Orders
New Caney ISD uses MaintenanceDirect from Schooldude for our work order system. This is a cloud-based system that helps us process work orders from initial request to completion and closure. To put in a work order, please see the principal's secretary on campus. All work orders are processed from the campus contact and sent to the maintenance department for approval and assignment. Work orders are managed electronically from Kindle Fire HD devices and are updated as the status changes.
