Welding Club and SkillsUSA

  • The Welding Club is an organization that allows students to meet on a regular basis before school and participates in additional welding and construction-related activities. Topics of discussion include "How To's" on personal and school metal projects, and the opportunity to participate in additional welding practice and cutting skills.

The SkillsUSA welding team is a DUE funded group, usually reserved for those students who have been enrolled in the Welding II class, that participates at the District and State level competitions in various metal-related project divisions. Students who are beginners in the Principles of Manufacturing class, Fundamentals of Welding, or Welding I class can aspire to join the Skills team as they continue building on their welding knowledge and application abilities.

District competition takes place in February at Lamar Institute of Technology, and State competition occurs at Corpus Christi in March.
