What is The Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program?
The Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program teaches children in Pre-K through third grade four important steps to take if they find a gun. These steps are presented by a New Caney ISD police officer and the program's mascot, Eddie Eagle, in an easy-to-remember format consisting of the following simple rules:
- STOP
- Don't Touch
- Leave the Area
- Tell an Adult
The New Caney ISD Police Department has participated in the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program in our elementary schools since 2001. In 2009, the department entered and won a contest for an "official" Eddie Eagle mascot, hosted by the NRA. To learn more about the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program and gun safety visit Eddie Eagle.
