Middle School English Language Arts/Reading (ELAR)

  • Literacy is "a tool for daily life in modern society...it is the road to human progess and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential." -Kofi Annan

Instruction in our English language arts classrooms is designed to develop student literacy. We provide structured and sequenced learning for students, coupled with many opportunities for enrichment.

Since skill in one aspect of language serves and a bridge to learning competency in other language skills, the ELA program incorporates a fused curriculum that includeds critical thinking, reading, and writing skills along with the study of grammar, usage, speaking, listening, and literature.
