Brookwood Forest Elementary School is scheduled to open for the 2018-19 school year. The opening of Brookwood Forest Elementary School will necessitate some adjustments to the current zoning for elementary schools in the district. Robert L. Crippen Elementary earned membership into the No Excuses University network by demonstrating a commitment to college readiness and through efforts to ensure all children meet standards in reading, writing and math, no matter their challenges
Crippen attended the opening day ceremony of the school in 1997 and returned for the 20th anniversary celebration held by the campus staff, students and New Caney ISD.
February 8, 2017 - Robert L. "Bob" Crippen (Capt, U.S. Navy, Ret.) is a retired American naval officer and aviator, test pilot, aerospace engineer, former astronaut for the United States Department of Defense and NASA, and a 1955 graduate of New Caney High School.

July 3, 2018 - Krista Salazar, Porter High School upcoming senior, recently competed in Atlanta, Ga. at the 2018 National Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition. Krista is returning to PHS with a gold medal for earning first place.
June 27, 2018 - The Texas State 7-on-7 State Tournament will be held in College Station June 29-30 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex. New Caney will compete in Division I which consists of 64 teams from Class 5A or 6A and large private schools.
June 27, 2018 - Several students from the Porter High School AFJROTC program attended and graduated from the AFJROTC Cadet Leadership Camp at the University of Houston in June.

La escuela de Robert L. Crippen ofrece diferentes actividades y programas académicos desde programas de dos lenguajes, technología de uno a uno para grados de 3-5 utilizando sus propios Chromebooks. Las actividades extracurriculares incluyen, La Sociedad National de Honores para la Primaria (National Elementary Honor society), Coro, Patrulla de Seguridad (Safety Patrol), El Club de Español, El Club de Biblia y UIL(University Interscholastic League) para la primaria.
