Students Advance to State Art Competition

Five New Caney High School students’ artwork will advance to the Visual Arts Scholastic Event State Competition in April! Fourteen students traveled Saturday, January 30 to Brenham High School to compete in the VASE Regional contest, the only UIL-based art contest in the state. NCHS students submitted 24 pieces of art for the event to be critiqued by judges. 20 of the pieces received a top score of “IV.” From those 20, five were selected to advance to state. Those advancing will participate in art workshops in preparation for state competition. VASE State will be held at the University of Houston at Clear Lake on April 10. Congratulations!
