NCHS Hires Head Football Coaches

The New Caney ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Tuesday night hiring Tim Hensley as Head Football Coach/Coordinator of High School Campus Athletics at New Caney High School and Reno Moore as Head Football Coach/Coordinator of High School Campus Athletics at Porter High School, which is due to open Fall 2010. 90 people applied for the positions. A committee interviewed 17 applicants the week of December 7.

“We are very pleased to welcome two new high school football coaches to our staff. Both of these coaches bring years of success to our schools with records that have included deep runs into the playoffs. Tim Hensley and Reno Moore have both been on staffs that coached teams in the State Finals games at the 3A, 4A and 5A levels. They are clearly focused on meeting the needs of our students and understand what it takes to build a successful program,” said Superintendent Kenn Franklin.

Athletic Director Doug Bonsal added, “We’re excited about having both Coach Moore and Coach Hensley be a part of New Caney ISD. Gauging from their past successes, we anticipate great things from both programs, and we think both of these hires will be a huge benefit to our kids and community.”

Tim Hensley comes to the District from a very successful program at Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, TX. Hensley has been the Varsity Co-Defensive Coordinator since 2005. Over the course of Hensley’s tenure, the Bulldawgs have made it to the state playoffs every year. Before his years in Cove, he was Special Teams Coordinator for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and Varsity Co-Defensive/Special Teams Coordinator for Bay City ISD. The Blackcats won 4A Division 1 State Champion in 2000.

Hensley and his wife Kendra have a son, Quentin and daughter, Rylann.

Reno Moore has been the Athletic Director/Offensive Coordinator at Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, TX since 2004. The Wildcats were 4A Area Champions in 2006 and Bi-District Champions in 2007. Other accomplishments include most wins and most playoff wins in Whitehouse school history (2006). Prior to his success at Whitehouse, Moore was the Offensive Coordinator for two years at Daingerfield ISD, where the Tigers were State Semi-Finalists in 2002.

Moore and his wife, Stephanie have two daughters, Madeline and Michaela.
