Student Services Fair

Ever wondered what specialized services are available for your student at New Caney ISD? Gifted and Talented programs, dyslexia services, bilingual/ESL, credit recovery courses, technology, and free breakfasts are just a few! Discover what the District has to offer Thursday, October 22 as the NCISD Department of Special Education hosts its first annual Student Services Fair.

“Our focus is to get the word out to parents about the great services we have at New Caney ISD, and within the community, to support the student's educational growth and success,” says Jana Lawrence, Special Education Program Coordinator. The event is a collaborative effort with the community. Representatives from the district and the community-wide organizations will be showcasing services designed to support student learning, health, safety and nutrition.

Parents and the public can learn, for instance, how the special education department has been training teachers to use research-based reading and math programs to improve student performance. Lawrence says the techniques have increased students’ rate of learning and their self confidence. She says, “It is amazing to see the progress that some of our students have made.”

The event will be held in a “come and go” format at the NCHS Annex building, LGI room from 5 - 6:30 p.m. October 22. Refreshments will be served. Interpreters will be available.
