Tree, Plaque Dedicated in Memory of Kendrick Owens

A memorial service for Kendrick Donovan Owens was held at Keefer Crossing Middle School, outside, near the newly planted Live Oak tree on April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Mr. Steve Freeman, principal, gave the opening remarks. Ms. Jana McClane read the dedication poem. The Live Oak tree was donated by Mr. Don Arnold, owner of Arnold Landscape Architects & Contractors, Inc. Ms. Laurie Perry read a scripture. The song, "The Desert Song" was sung by Katy Freeman and dedicated to Kendrick. The plaque was donated by Superior Trophies.
Kendrick Donovan Owens (October 25, 1996-March 6, 2010) died after DPS troopers say a drunk driver struck him as he walked with a friend on FM 1485.
