District Sees Continued Improvement in TAKS Results
Good news! In reviewing preliminary TAKS scores, it appears that the district saw growth in all subject areas and growth in all but a few sub-groups. The district's academic accountability rating is based on state assessment results in Math, English Language Arts/Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. Within each of the subject areas, a rating is issued for All students as well as students in the following sub-groups: African American, Hispanic, White, and Economically Disadvantaged. The scores for All (students) and for every sub-group in English Language Arts/Reading, Social Studies, and Writing were in the 90s. Scores in Math saw strong gains with not only All (students), but also with each sub-group scoring in the 80s, even without the results of the 2nd testing in 5th and 8th grade math. Science also experienced growth with All (students) including sub-groups scoring in the 70s. Commended performance results, scores of 90 percent or higher, were up in most grade levels and sub-groups across all five subject areas.
