Kenn K. Franklin Hired as Superintendent

At a special meeting on Thursday, May 7, 2009 the New Caney Independent School District Board of Trustees hired Kenn K. Franklin, to be the new superintendent. Afterwards, Mr. Franklin and his family were welcomed to the community by residents, teachers, and district administrators during a reception held in their honor.

Mr. Franklin has served as superintendent of Marshall ISD since 2005. Prior to this position, he served as superintendent of Marfa ISD. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, Masters of Education degree, and superintendent certification from University of Texas at Tyler.

Mr. Franklin was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. He attended Baylor University and finished his degree at University of Texas at Tyler. Born into a family of educators, it was no surprise when Mr. Franklin began a career in education as a teacher and coach. It was during those years that he finished his Masters of Education Administration degree.

He is married to Debbie and has four children- Kerbi, who recently graduated from Texas Tech University and is engaged to be married; Hunter, who is a sophomore at Tyler Junior College; Kennedy, who is a seventh-grader; and Walker, who is a third-grader in the Dual Language/Immersion program that was established in the District by Mr. Franklin.

Mr. Franklin is involved in many civic and church activities and serves on several boards including the Marshall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Harrison County Historical Board and the Region VII Advisory Board.
