Mission Statement

Our philosophy is to educate students to think and act responsibly as productive citizens and life-long learners in an ever-changing global society.

Goals

It is expected that students will:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding and identification of basic historical issues, events, and people.
  2. Understand and apply the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of citizenship.
  3. Be aware of current events at local, state, national, and global levels.
  4. Recognize the impact that individuals can make on their local, state, national, and world society.
  5. Understand our environment and how our interaction with the environment affects us now and in the future.
  6. Apply knowledge of the past to comprehend and solve current and future problems.
  7. Understand the importance of actively participating in the democratic process.
  8. Understand how technology affects the development and changes of society.
  9. Develop an understanding of the relationships between people, places, and events in a culturally diverse world.
  10. Develop an understanding of the roles of economic systems in world society, particularly in the United States.
